Essaouira

Essaouira stuated in south Morocco, on the atlantic coast, a relaxing medina with none of the stresses of the chaotic imperial cities.

This windy city is a bustling fishing port where you can eat delicious barbecue sardines and other fish straight off the boat.

A hippie town where Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones had made this their home throughout the 70’s, it's a place of world music enthusiasts, every June world music fans enjoy Essaouira’s Gnaoua World Music Festival.

History:


Medina of Essaouira (formerly Mogador) is an outstanding and well preserved example of a mid-18th century fortified seaport town, through which the bounty of the camel trains (including slaves from West- and Sub-Saharan Africa).
